Course Modules
Module 1: Introduction to Blockchain Technology
This module introduces blockchain technology and explains the principles behind distributed digital ledgers. Students will explore blockchain architecture, blocks, transactions, nodes, decentralisation and the evolution of blockchain-based systems.
Module 2: Cryptography, Transactions and Distributed Ledgers
This module introduces the cryptographic concepts used to protect blockchain information. Students will explore hashing, digital signatures, transaction structures, wallets and how distributed ledgers maintain trustworthy records.
Module 3: Consensus Mechanisms and Blockchain Networks
This module explores how blockchain networks reach agreement on transactions and maintain a consistent ledger. Students will examine different consensus approaches, network structures, validation and factors affecting blockchain performance.
Module 4: Smart Contracts and Decentralised Applications
This module introduces smart contracts and decentralised applications. Students will explore how programmable agreements operate on blockchain networks and how decentralised applications can provide services without relying entirely on traditional centralised systems.
Module 5: Blockchain Security, Privacy and Governance
This module examines security and governance considerations in blockchain environments. Students will explore common risks, key management, smart contract security, privacy, network governance and responsible implementation of blockchain systems.
Module 6: Blockchain Applications and Emerging Technologies
This module brings together the knowledge developed throughout the course. Students will examine applications of blockchain in areas such as finance, supply chains, digital identity and other sectors, while considering scalability, regulation and future developments.
